Text description. Metamorphosis in architecture is the change of form into different characters, appearances, or conditions which explores possibilities of transformation in the context of lighting, spacing, body sound, and airflow (five basis).
Facciata is the frontage that sets the tone of the building. In relation to brief, it can well manipulate with the five basis while imbuing strong sculptural quality.
"Name of Booth" is a hybridization of façade styles depicted from two local iconic modernism architectures across the past and current periods. The design intention of "Name of Booth" incorporates how the facade is redefined over the years, through positive conversion known as transformation, asseverating the theme of the exhibition.

The design elements are inspired from the Malaysia iconic buildings over the years which details are explained as below:
3 Old Era
Adoption of “kerawang” facade from Malaysian Houses of Parliament (1963) being exposed, implying a period where facade designed as building skin attached to structural support, wrapped around provided building form.
2 Rotation
Simultaneous rotation of both vertical components resembles elapsed time and the evolution progress of local modernism architecture facade.
3 Current Era
The adoption of a diamond geometry facade from Ilham Tower (2015) is being exposed, implying a period where the facade was integrated as structural support. Self-bracing diagrid structure enables flexible, column-free spaces to discover new functionalities and possibilities of building form.

Parliment Tower/ Kuala Lumpur (1963)
The design of the tower block resembles a pineapple with beehive-like ‘kerawang’ facade, implying period where facade designed as building skin attached to structural support, wrapped around to provide a building form.
Ilham Tower/ Kuala Lumpur (2016)
Designed with a geometrical diamond facade, implying a period where the facade is integrated as part of the structural support.
Maybank Tower/ Kuala Lumpur (2016)
Designed with a geometrical diamond facade, implying a period where the facade is integrated as part of the structural support.
Wisma Angkasapuri/ Kuala Lumpur (1968)
The building is ornamented with repetition of “shield-like” prefabricated terrazzo concrete which installed onto the extended reinforcement bar for shading.

▲ Push and Pull © yongqi
Both towers were designed to rotate in an anti-clockwise direction with the maximum of 180 degrees, The action “push and pull” was purposely applied to achieve the meaning od the transformation of facade in old and new era.

Regular box is extruded.
Extruded box is divided into two to strengthen the concept of two columns.
Kerawang’ facade is taken as infill of the volumes.
Diagonal exo-skeleton facade is taken as basis of structural footprint.
The vertical components are stretched to create hierarchy and asymmetry.
The vertical components are rotated to enable transformation of form expressions.
