▲Design Intention © yongqi

The initial idea of form was derived from the motion of fishing. The motion then becomes a curved form and interacts with each other to make up a more abstract form. The curved form has become the roof structure of our pavilion to act as an eye-catching feature. The railing of our pavilion was arranged into waveform to emphasize the element of our site which is the waterfront.

Kuala Terengganu is located in the east of Malay Peninsula, facing the South China Sea with long wide beaches that lie from Kuala Besut up to Kuala Kemaman. The geographic features encouraged the people living at the coast to get involved in the fisheries industry. Fishing has become their local interest. Without any proper place to fishing, the local people are suffering from heat while fishing. This has always been the main issue for the people who like to fish. The people always cross over the existing railing and have fishing at Pesisir Payang. Thus,it gives an image that fishing activities are illegal at the area.

Programme

This is the reason why we proposed a shelther area for the fisherman. This pavilion consists of shading area for the fisherman, so that they able to rest and prevent from sun while fishing. There is also a information area for the visitors who don't know anything about fishing. They can learn more about fishing through our pavilion. The pavilion also provide a good viewing deck for the visitors to able to enjoy the views of Pasar Payang promenade.

With its strategic location where located in front of the water body(Sungai Terengganu),the nice view from side to Sungai Terengganu. There is nice panorama which include Duyong Marina & resort, Masjid Kampung Seberang Takir and Terengganu Drawbridge. Masjid Kampung Seberang Takir located on the opposite shore, it gives an image of floating mosque which captivate people’s eye sight.

As one of the tourist hot spots, people will be crowded at Pasar Payang to buy some goods. The pedestrian crossing provided near to our site lead tourists and locals to the promenade along Pesisir Payang. Thus, the visitors can access our site safely and easily.

Tourists and locals will be attracted to our pavilion when they are walking along the promenade due to the baldness of the scenery line of Pesisir Payang.

Our pavilion can be approached by passing through the gazebo. People will be attracted to our pavilion when they are gathering and resting at the gazebo nearby.

The people can watch the ongoing programs and competitions and rest on the platform above. The ramp is provided for ease of movement for the handicapped. The different levels of the platform providing various atmospheres and views toward the water body.
